The Muriel Cigar, an Icon in TV Advertising History.

In the heyday of the 50s TV programming, when our moms and dads sat glued in face of to little black and white flickering screen, watching such shows as “The Texico Star Theater”, “I Love Lucy” and the “Ed Sullivan Show”, they were also witness to individual of America’s firstly icons in TV advertising history, the Muriel cigar. Later Edie hosted her own series sponsored by Muriel Cigars called "Here's Edie". The position of the Muriel Cigar girl was later taken over by mode model Susan Anton in the 1970s.

A Bit of History

The Muriel cigar in reality had a much earlier beginning beforehand its memorable jump to TV stardom. The brand was originally owned by P. Lorillard and Company of Jersey City New Jersey, one of America's chief and oldest manufacturers of tobacco products during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Muriel Cigar brand was acquired by Consolidated Cigar in 1959 where it began its claim to TV fame and because of time and many transitions now belongs to Altadis U.S.A., a company including a vast and deeply rooted story in the American cigar industry. The company has only grown, both bigger and better like time went by.
